NOAA has recently awarded OSU and the Pacific Shellfish Institute a federal grant to assess the vulnerability of shellfish growers, consumers and other stakeholders in the Pacific Northwest to ocean acidification (OA) using a multidisciplinary approach. The study will identify associated costs of adapting to OA, assess potential constraints on adaptation that stakeholders may confront, and identify long-term adaptation pathways that are likeliest to succeed. David Kling from Applied Economics Economics serves as a co-Principle Investigator, along with faculty from the College of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Sciences and staff from the Pacific Shellfish Institute.
