After an extensive search, the College of Agricultural Sciences at Oregon State University has appointed Dr. Jeff Reimer as head of the Department of Applied Economics, effective July 8, 2024.
Reimer joined the Department of Applied Economics at Oregon State University in 2005 and has served as interim department head since September 2022. His research focuses on international trade, agricultural economics, price analysis, labor economics, water resources, and general equilibrium modeling. His research program has received over $2.5 million in funding from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the National Science Foundation, and other organizations. Many of his grants are multidisciplinary in nature and address complex societal challenges.
Reimer received his Ph.D. in agricultural economics from Purdue University and was a research associate in the Food Systems Research Group at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Since joining OSU, he has been the major advisor for 12 graduate students and a committee member for dozens of others. His teaching at OSU has focused on agricultural price analysis, international trade, the economics of globalization, and microeconomic theory.
